The Lions downgrade Jahmyr Gibbs to doubtful for Week 5 and upgrade Dylan Drummond.

Before their Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers, the Detroit Lions updated their injury list and promoted a slot receiver.

On Saturday, the Detroit Lions made a few roster changes, updated their injury report, and promoted a practice squad member ahead of their Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers.

On the injury report, one of the most significant moves was downgrading rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Gibbs had a full practice earlier in the week, but was listed as a limited participant on the injury report on Friday due to a hamstring ailment, and was given a questionable designation.

The Lions assessed that Gibbs’ injury was worse than expected after a follow-up assessment on Saturday, and he has been downgraded to DOUBTFUL for Sunday’s game.

Gibbs will most certainly be evaluated again by the Lions’ medical team on Sunday and might be a game-time decision, although this designation usually results in a player being inactive. If Gibbs is unable to play, David Montgomery’s use will increase, while backups Craig Reynolds and Zonovan Knight will get increased action.

The Miracle in Motown needs a rewatch.

Amon-Ra St. Brown is also classified as questionable for Sunday’s game, while the Lions have promoted undrafted rookie — and preseason sensation — Dylan Drummond to the active roster for this game. Drummond will return to the Lions practice squad after the game because this is a regular promotion.

Drummond is a slot receiver by trade, but he may not see action because Kalif Raymond is slated to take over the main slot role if St. Brown is unavailable. Drummond will most likely provide depth and insurance at wide out for the Lions.
