MLB Insider Says Shohei Ohtani Will Leave Angels in the Offseason

A day that the organization has been dreading for years.

Though no one actually knows what’s going on in his head, it’s been speculated at various moments over the last few years that current Los Angeles Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani will continue his MLB career in a new place after 2023.

The Japanese superstar hasn’t explicitly stated anything, but one analyst believes that the current situation on the Angels’ squad isn’t and hasn’t been enough to keep him in Anaheim.

After winning Rookie of the Year in 2018 and AL MVP in 2021, Ohtani’s status as the best player in baseball this season all but guaranteed him another unanimous AL MVP victory in 2023 by the end of June.

Despite providing value on both sides of the ball like we’ve never seen before, the Halos haven’t been able to fully utilize either of Ohtani’s excellent skills this season owing to a variety of issues.

Ohtani’s efforts to be the full two-way superstar he’s been for the previous three seasons ultimately took their toll on his thought-to-be superhuman body due to both weariness and an elbow injury.

The Angels stated that Ohtani would not start another game for the team for the rest of 2023 due to another tear in his UCL.

Despite remaining in the Los Angeles lineup despite his elbow injury, a fresh oblique strain has required the Japanese superstar to recover from plate appearances in addition to his absence from the mound.

A disappointing year for both the player and the team, 2023 could mark the end of the Orange County chapter in the book written by one of baseball’s all-time greats.
