Tottenham’s ‘fantastic’ talent is poised to leave the club on a free transfer in January.

Hugo Lloris is expected to depart Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the January transfer window after the club failed to offload him in the summer.

According to a story in The Telegraph, the Frenchman has rejected a number of potential moves elsewhere in recent months.

Hugo Lloris appears to have made his farewell outing for Tottenham. The 36-year-old’s form had been declining for some years before an injury ended his season last year.

In the end, Spurs signed Guglielmo Vicario in the summer. Vicario has had a fantastic first season as Tottenham’s captain. Meanwhile, Fraser Forster has shown to be an excellent backup.

Tottenham expects Lloris to go in January.

Lloris is still at the club. However, his inability to obtain a job elsewhere is unlikely to result in a major change.

According to The Telegraph, Lloris is expected to depart the club in January – on a free transfer – which is not surprising given that his contract expires next summer.

It’s a sad way for Lloris’ time at Tottenham to come to an end. Over the previous decade, he has been one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League, reaching some incredible heights with the club. Mauricio Pochettino described him as ‘excellent’. He is, however, a long way from his peak at this point in his career. And he is now Ange Postecoglou’s third choice.

Ideally, he would have left on a high note last season before going on to a team where he can still play regularly.

But it appears that it is now in everyone’s best interests for him to negotiate a relocation away as soon as feasible.
