Everton agree to sell exceptional midfielder for £22 million to Premier League rival.

As the summer transfer deadline approaches, Fulham are close to finalizing a rumoured £22 million deal with Everton for Alex Iwobi.

According to the Evening Standard, the former Arsenal winger is expected to make a surprise return to London despite being arguably Sean Dyche’s best player as the Toffees battled relegation last season.

Despite signing Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore, Calvin Bassey, Timothy Castagne, and goalkeeper Steven Benda, Cottagers manager Marco Silva wants to add more quality to his side.

Iwobi could potentially join Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at Craven Cottage, with the Tottenham midfielder also reportedly interested in a transfer across London.

The Dane would be an immediate replacement for Joao Palhinha, who appears to be on his way to Bayern Munich.

Iwobi, 27, returns to the city after a four-year absence, having previously graduated from Arsenal’s youth system.

Silva values Iwobi’s adaptability.
The Nigerian international appeared against Fulham in the Toffees’ season-opening loss at Goodison Park, and he has made two appearances this season.

His versatility is also a significant asset, with Iwobi capable of playing on either the wing or in central midfield, as he demonstrated to great effect last season.

The midfielder scored nine goals in 140 games for Everton but now appears to be on his way to The Cottage.
