Tottenham Hotspur may now sign Victor Nelsson for as little as €20 million.

Tottenham might recruit defensive target Victor Nelsson at a reduced fee of €20 million, since the defender is not interested in extending his contract.
Tottenham could sign defensive target Victor Nelsson for a reduced fee of €20 million in January, according to Milliyet via Sport Witness. Spurs were interested in the 24-year-old throughout the summer, as Galatasaray were considering selling their top player.

Much before Tottenham signed Micky van de Ven, there was widespread speculation about a transfer for Victor Nelsson. Many Turkish newspapers confirmed that Spurs were among the front-runners in the race.

Nelsson had his heart set on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but instead stayed at Galatasaray. The 24-year-old was coming off a spectacular domestic season in which he won the league title. Ange Postecoglou wanted both him and Van de Ven in his system, but only got the Dutchman.

Nelsson has been speaking to the media ahead of the international games. He was questioned about events that occurred throughout the summer. The 24-year-old defender said Galatasaray prevented a transfer and that he has no desire to sign an extension.

“It was extremely close with Sevilla.” The plane was also ordered, but it never arrived.Galatasaray, I believe, has vetoed a transfer. It is not a secret. They did not think the package was adequate. There has been interest and offers from clubs that I am very interested in joining. I would have preferred to move clubs.”

“I’ve had some discussions with them. After the most recent international break, I notified them that I did not wish to continue my contract. “I have three years left on my contract and couldn’t see myself extending it for another year.”

According to additional sources, Tottenham was willing to pay €30 million for the defender. That was based on Galatasaray’s confidence in consenting to an extension. If all had gone according to plan, the Turkish side would have increased his release clause by €5 million from his present price of €25 million.

Nelsson might go for €20 million, according to sources, with an extension out of the question and Tottenham still interested. It will help Tottenham, Nelson, and Postecoglou achieve their individual goals.

Nelsson had a solid start to the season but has since been demoted to a substitute role in Galatasaray’s last three games. Spurs are lacking in central defense as Postecoglou leads them to an unexpected title challenge. Furthermore, the Spurs are prepared to allow Eric Dier’s departure in January. The 29-year-old is the team’s most experienced defender.

As a result, buying a new defender will allow Postecoglou to effectively rotate his defenders. It also gives those that play each week some much-needed relaxation. Nelsson may add some heft to this backline. He might help Spurs mount a title assault if they remain in contention during or after the January transfer window.
