Moses’ return date has been confirmed by the Eels following his injury.

Mitchell Moses, the Parramatta Eels’ standout halfback, will be out for six weeks due to a shattered eye socket.

After anticipation that Moses could be able to return at some point during the finals, the club confirmed the news on Tuesday.

The injury occurred in the first minutes of last weekend’s humiliating loss to the Brisbane Broncos, which has put the Eels on the verge of missing the finals.

Moses, who played through the injury until halftime, was eventually removed off the field, and with a six-week return timeframe, the preliminary finals would be the best case scenario for a return, with the grand final being a more realistic aim.

Even that would require things to go perfectly, and of course, Parramatta are far from guaranteed of reaching the decider, especially with their star halfback watching from the sidelines.

Daejarn Asi will play in the halves for the Eels against the Roosters this Saturday, with the young utility expected to wear the number seven jumper in each of Parramatta’s two final games.

As things stand, the Eels will need to win both of their remaining games and hope for some luck with a bye in the last round to make it to the finals.

Failure to make the top eight will be a big setback for Brad Arthur’s team, who reached the grand final last year before losing to the Penrith Panthers in the decider.
