Sam Burgess in Warrington Wolves apparel for the first time
Warrington Wolves hired Sam Burgess after breaking ways with former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers manager Daryl Powell.
After leaving the NRL, Burgess has signed to a two-year contract with the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
He is expected to join the club in November, but he has already been spotted in Warrington Wolves clothing for the first time, particularly ahead of the club’s next season ticket sale campaign.
Burgess has been vocal about his dedication to the club, even abandoning his previous team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Burgess stepped into the coaching set-up at South Sydney Rabbitohs after retiring from a storied playing career in 2019. He is presently working as an Assistant Coach for the NRL club.
Burgess is one of the world’s most well-known and respected leaders. Despite sustaining a shattered cheekbone in the first minute, the former England captain famously led the Rabbitohs to the 2014 NRL title, earning the Clive Churchill Medal.
During his playing career, he represented England and the United Kingdom on 26 times, and he captained the national side to the World Cup Final in 2017 under Wayne Bennett’s leadership.
Gary Chambers will be elevated to Director of Rugby as part of the Rugby department review. He will be in charge of the entire Rugby department, from the first team down.
Chambers will serve as interim manager for the rest of the 2023 season before taking up the permanent position.
Richard Marshall will continue as Assistant Coach, with a second Assistant to be confirmed in due course.
