Derek Carr’s statement about Khalil Mack will break Raiders supporters’ hearts.

When the Las Vegas Raiders were the Oakland Raiders, they had a stud young quarterback named Derek Carr and a franchise pass rusher in Khalil Mack. Both players are now on other teams and have previously left the Raiders, but Carr still finds time to reflect on what could have been with the Raiders, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.

“It was heartbreaking when Khalil [Mack] left because we had big plans in Oakland to win championships.” That was my younger brother. But here I [Derek Carr], a former Raider, am. In this league, you never know what may happen, but I’m enjoying the fresh start as much as Khalil did.”

Derek Carr admitted that it was difficult to see Khalil Mack traded from the Raiders in 2018, but that it has now come full circle with both of them no longer playing for the now-Las Vegas club. Nonetheless, Carr emphasizes that he is still getting used to being the New Orleans Saints’ quarterback.

“I’m still adjusting and trying my hardest.” We still maintain a residence in Vegas and utilize it as a base of operations. There’s always that fire when you’re unleashed somewhere. You feel renewed and invigorated. It’s been fantastic inside our [Saints] facility.”

Carr appears to be gearing up for a great year in New Orleans, and Mack is aiming for the same with the Los Angeles Chargers. If any of these two players wins the Super Bowl this year, Raiders fans will be kicking themselves.
