41-year-old who left Spurs recently has joined Championship side

Gretar Steinsson has found himself a new role in football after departing Tottenham Hotspur, with Leeds United handing him a position as their new technical director.

The 41-year-old was hired by Fabio Paratici in July 2022 as his right-hand man. With the Italian now no longer employed by Tottenham, Steinsson also left his role at the club.

Paratici parted ways with Spurs in April after receiving a 30-month ban from world football for his involvement in Juventus’ financial controversies. Scott Munn has since replaced Paratici and taken on many of his directorial responsibilities, however, his start date was pushed back.

With a new director, and new manager, it seems Spurs are entering something of a new era. As such, the structure Paratici put in place has largely been disassembled and Steinsson no longer has a part to play in North London.

A report from Football.London last month revealed that Steinsson would be leaving his role as Performance Director at Tottenham.

Steinsson joins Leeds United

Steinsson has wasted little time in finding his next job at Leeds with the club having recently changed hands since relegation from the Premier League, with former owner Andrea Radrizzani handing over the reins to 49ers Enterprises.

In the latest report on the situation, it is claimed Steinsson will “play a significant part in Leeds’ recruitment process.”

The BBC has subsequently reported that Steinsson’s appointment has been made official, citing the Icelandic as a pivotal part of the Leeds United “rebuild” moving forward.

Spurs Web Opinion

Steinsson was barely at Spurs long enough to have a significant impact at the club, so it’s a shame he is moving on already.  Nevertheless, we need a fresh start in every respect and it’s good to see him finding his next role already.
