Read’s prize after a protracted voyage
It has taken a while for Peel Thunder to name Adam Read as their new senior coach.

Adam Read has been Peel Thunder’s new Senior Coach for a considerable amount of time; his appointment was the result of more than ten years of dedication and hard work.

Following eight years as a Development Coach with Fremantle, Read has been appointed to his first senior coaching role with this selection.

Prior to joining Fremantle’s coaching department in 2012, he worked as an analyst from 2009 to 2011 and as a recruiter for two years after joining the Club in 2007.

A “satisfied” Read expressed his excitement about taking on the role of leader of a young Peel group.

It’s been a long apprenticeship and journey for me, so reaching this point feels incredibly rewarding, Read remarked

.

“I am extremely excited about this, as it is something I have been longing for. I am truly appreciative of the Club for providing me with this chance.”

Geoff Valentine, the departing Peel Thunder senior coach who will take over as Fremantle’s head of football operations and development, left a legacy that Read praised.

Over the previous two years, Valentine has been instrumental in leading Peel to the 2023 WAFL Grand Final.

Read said, “Geoff has been fantastic; his work between the two programs demonstrates his greatness as a sounding board and people connector.”

He has brought Peel and Fremantle together and formed a cohesive unit.

“It’s a great standard to follow, set by him.”

Read emphasized that his appreciation of the Peel Thunder community stems primarily from the people involved and the community aspect.

Read remarked, “It’s the people; I think the community is great overall.”

“Since the beginning of the alignment (between Peel and Freo), I have been involved in some capacity with it.

“At the moment, it’s in a really healthy spot, and I think it just comes down to people at Peel and Fremantle, on both sides.”

Read, who is enthusiastic about the current Thunder team, emphasized the talented young players at his disposal who helped Peel to their third Grand Final appearance in club history this year.

On November 21, Peel Thunder will kick off their preseason.

Read stated, “The majority of the Peel cohort is young, and there is a great core group of players there that will be our next batch of 100-game players.”

Everyone should find that exciting, in my opinion.
