While Matheus Cunha’s future is uncertain, there is hope that several other members of Wolves’ first team can be persuaded to remain at the club.

Indeed, Pereira has given the go-ahead to push for one player in particular to be given new terms and extend his stay beyond the coming summer.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at Molineux at the end of the season, although Semedo has spoken positively about his Wolves future in previous interviews.

However, Semedo is attracting interest from Benfica, with former Wolves manager Bruno Lage coy on his side’s interest in the right-back.

Amid this interest, and as reported by O Jogo, Wolves look set to offer Semedo a new deal.

Yet whether the Portugal international wants a change of scenery or is happy to extend his stay with the club remains to be seen.

Nelson Semedo’s stats at Wolves
Semedo is one of the current squad’s longest-serving players, having been with the Old Gold since signing in the summer of 2020.

Despite five different managers being in charge of the club during that time, he has been an ever-present.

Indeed, he has made 28 Premier League appearances this season alone, including starting in each of Wolves’ last four games as Pereira’s side won each to climb away from the drop zone.

Moreover, his form for Wolves over the years has earned him repeated call-ups to his national team, Semedo having made 42 appearances for Portugal across his career.

Despite his age, the defender clearly still has a lot to offer the club, meaning if a deal can be done to keep him at the club, it should be made.
