Kristaps Porzingis of the Celtics participated in his first scrimmage since suffering an injury (report).

The Celtics’ training camp does not begin until next week, but players have already arrived in Boston to begin working behind the scenes. This includes newcomer Kristaps Porzingis, who has made at least a few cameos on the C’s social media in recent days.

Concerns were raised concerning Porzingis’ foot after he confessed he suffered plantar fasciitis, which prevented him from representing Latvia in the FIBA World Cup. However, all indications were that the big guy would be fully recovered in time for the start of camp.

Porzinigis participated in his first scrimmage since his injury on Wednesday and “had no issues,” according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe. All of this is good news for the Celtics, who are counting on Porzingis to shake things up and help them win Banner No. 18.

After moving Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies in a three-team transaction that netted them Porzingis, the Celtics are taking a chance. It was a startling transaction just before the 2023 NBA Draft, but it was evident that the C’s wanted to shake up their core by bringing in the big man.

Porzingis is coming off a breakout season in Washington, where he excelled on both ends of the court. The Celtics will have to adjust their lineup with him in town. However, Porzingis brings a unique element to the squad with his shooting and rim protection, which the Celtics believe will propel them to victory.

The true issue with Porzingis is his lengthy injury history, despite the fact that he played in 65 games last season. However, the plantar fasciitis caused some murmurs among C’s fans, as another player was injured before the 2023-24 season even began. However, it appears like the Celtics will be at full strength once training camp begins.
