The EFL announces the 25-man Championship squads as Coventry City falters
The Sky Blues’ roster for the upcoming season has been announced, according to Coventry City news from CoventryLive.
The EFL has announced Coventry City’s lineup for the 2023–24 Championship season.
After the summer transfer market closed, the Sky Blues and every other team in the second tier were forced to name a squad of no more than 25 players. The league has officially approved that squad.
Players who were born prior to 2002 are required to register, and loanees, regardless of their age, are also required to register. That left City with 22 senior players who would need to be registered, which means Mark Robins’ team is three players shy of the usual registration quota. However, they are not the only team to have fewer players than the permitted quota.
Seven senior players were released at the conclusion of their contracts, five players on loan returned to their parent clubs, and two players were sold during the summer transfer window for Coventry, who also signed 11 new players.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Robins had planned to add at least one more player to his team, which still appears a touch undersized in comparison to many of their divisional competitors.
