Exclusive: Everton well placed to complete first permanent signing of Friedkin era…
The Friedkin Group are keen to bolster Everton’s youth ranks in the form of Hearts defender John Dodds, sources have told Football Insider.
Everton are set for a summer’s worth of seismic changes on Merseyside, with David Moyes’ squad to undergo a significant rebuild as well as their stadium move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock.
Football Insider revealed that Everton had agreed a deal with Hearts to sign 16-year-old centre-back Dodds on 20 April, and he looks set to become the first permanent arrival under the Friedkin Group.
Dodds has already agreed personal terms with Moyes after the Toffees had an undisclosed bid accepted by Hearts, and sources have told Football Insider that he could be the first of several youthful additions.

John Dodds the first of many academy transfers at Everton
Extremely highly-rated in Scotland and pursued by several English clubs before Everton won the race for his signature, Dodds is likely to develop in the Blues’ age-group teams before he makes the step up.
Football Insider sources have now said that while Dodds is “a signing for the future” and yet to make a senior appearance, the Friedkin Group’s transfer plan is to strengthen significantly at academy level.
Dodds’ progress in Everton’s Under-18s and Under-21s sides, at least for the time being, will be followed closely by Friedkin Group officials at Bramley-Moore, with an eye on creating a best-in-class academy.

Friedkin Group to enact complete rebuild at Everton
As well as their relocation from Goodison to the Liverpool waterfront, the make-up of Everton’s squad is set for a complete overhaul, and former Man United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Moyes has already lined up four key positions to be strengthened.
A key area will be the left-hand side of defence with Jarrad Branthwaite’s future subject to speculation, as Football Insider revealed on 21 April that Everton could sign Lens’s Facundo Medina for £30million.
Moyes is also keen to bolster the Toffees’ ranks up front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to depart, and the Scot is “backing himself” to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton and turn the striker’s career around.
