Luton Town – Sticking To Financial Obligations..
Yesterday afternoon, news broke relating to Leicester City, who have been relegated to the EFL Championship.
According to the BBC , the Midlands based club are set to be investigated after breaking the rigid financial boundaries clubs have to abide by.
But these breaches didn’t occur last season, they took place during the season Leicester City were promoted to the Premier League, from the EFL Championship, 2023/2024.
As a result of these breaches, if proven, Leicester City could start next season with a points deduction.
But is that fair or does it open a dark web of deceit?
Perhaps it should be pointed out that the time of the breaches came when the Hatters, unsuccessfully, were fighting for their Premier League status.
As it turned out we were relegated as the team that finished third from bottom and Leicester City were one of the three teams promoted to the Premier League, albeit, it would seem, by breaking the financial constraints every other club had to abide by.
If that was the case, am I right, as a Luton Town supporter feeling a little hard done by?
Could I be a little angry that the revelations are only coming to light now?
Or, as a friend put it, perhaps we should have retained our Premier League status on the back of Leicester City spending to much and receiving an instant penalty?
But, as is often the case, the wheels of justice take too long to turn and we can only ponder what if.
Perhaps changes need making so that the financial side of the game is monitored on a closer basis, so that it doesn’t take so long for any misdeamours to become apparent.
By the way, asking for a friend, what was the outcome of the multitude of charges Manchester City faced?
Or is that still ongoing?
But what are your views relating to this ongoing / fresh rumpus?
