He’d make Larsen unplayable: Wolves targeting move for “sensational” PL ace…
Jorgen Strand Larsen shares what’s changed at Wolves under Vitor Pereira and makes Gary O’Neil admission.
Wolves are now a world away from where they were in late 2024 – and it’s all thanks to Vitor Pereira.
In December, Wolves sat in the relegation zone and at that point, dropping into the Championship felt like a distinct possibility.
At the very least, most felt a relegation battle was definitely in the cards.
But the decision was finally taken to sack Gary O’Neil after the defeat to Ipswich Town at Molineux.
In came Vitor Pereira which was, on paper, a risk – but the Portuguese has been a revelation.
Wolves surged clear of the relegation zone, and confirmed their safety with five games to spare, which was just remarkable. Currently, Wolves are on a six-game winning run, which would have ben absolutely unheard of months ago.
One player who has gone to another level under Pereira is Jorgen Strand Larsen, who has been speaking about the impact of managerial change at the club.
When he came in there was complete disarray. Not only were Wolves conceding goals and losing games left, right and centre, but players were losing their discipline.
But Pereira has come in and, after making a few important additions, made Wolves become hard to beat and now, we are seeing a confidence in the team that has not been seen for a long, long time.
Speaking about what has changed since Pereira came in, Strand Larsen pointed to a desire to impress the new manager. But the striker did also have a positive word to say about O’Neil.

He said: “Of course, the new staff came in with great energy, but the players are the same. It’s just maybe at some point you need a change.
“We played also a few good games with Gary, and they are great people, this is not about that change, but of course when you get a new manager everyone wants to show themselves, and I think with time we’ve just built on that, and everything’s worked out in training.
“We put a lot of work into training, and at the beginning it went a little bit up and down, but you can see now it’s coming to where it should be and I’m just really happy for the guys, because we’ve struggled a lot this season.”

Pablo Sarabia agrees with Strand Larsen.
It’s interesting to hear Strand Larsen give a positive word about O’Neil.
But the striker did say he felt a change was needed, and Pablo Sarabia said very similar last week after the win over Manchester United.
He said: “I think this team needed a change, because at the beginning of the season we didn’t find the best for us in terms of confidence in ourselves and everything.
