Illan Meslier’s future at Leeds United appears to be in serious doubt after reports in Germany have linked the Whites with a transfer swoop for FC Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen this summer.
Meslier has been a controversial figure at Elland Road this season having made a number of high-profile mistakes over the course of the season. While his performances against the likes of Derby County over Christmas were exemplary, there was a growing consensus that the 25-year-old would need replacing after his two mistakes against Swansea City cost the club three points.
After being a staunch defender of Meslier, Daniel Farke eventually agreed and chose to drop the Frenchman in favour of Karl Darlow. Since then, the Welshman has kept his place in the Leeds squad with the Whites unbeaten and Darlow keeping four clean sheets in six matches.

Now promotion to the Premier League is sealed, there is one eye on the transfer window and the future of Meslier is up for discussion. At present, it seems that Darlow will go into next season as the No.1 but Meslier is unlikely to want to remain at the club as a back-up.
Speculation about his future will only intensify now after SportBild reported that Leeds are keeping an eye on Dahmen ahead of the transfer window. It is claimed that it is still early days in regards to the Whites’ interest but the report says that the 27-year-old, who has been first choice for most of this Bundesliga campaign when not injured, could be angling for a move to the Premier League.
Dahmen has represented Germany at youth level but qualifies to represent England through his mother. It is claimed by Bild that a move to the Premier League could put him on Thomas Tuchel’s radar.
It is not known what the asking price for Dahmen would be at this stage but it is claimed that the shot stopper is contracted until 2027 after recently making his 50th appearance for Augsburg.
