Newcastle Get Green Light to Sign £60m Premier League ‘Superstar’..

Newcastle United have set their sights on Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, and Eddie Howe thinks he has the “perfect profile” to bolster his squad, according to TEAMTalk.

Eze has enjoyed an impressive season since being called up to the England squad for Euro 2024 last summer. He has shone under Oliver Glasner, playing an important role in the Eagles’ journey to the FA Cup final, including a superb goal in the semi-final win over Aston Villa.

The club’s co-owner, Steve Parish, was “astounded” at the lack of interest in the 26-year-old last summer, but that looks to have changed amid becoming recognised as “one of the best” attackers in the league. He joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in a £20m deal in August 2020. He has two years left on his contract, which is said to contain a release clause of £67.7m (€80m).

Newcastle are reportedly “among the clubs keen on signing Eze” this summer. Howe believes his skills will be a perfect fit for the St James’ Park team. The 10-cap England international has predominantly been used in an attacking midfield role but can also play out wide on the left.

Howe wants more creativity in his attack next season as a return to the UEFA Champions League looks likely. The Magpies may be hesitant about splashing out over £60m on a player entering the last year of his contract in 2026, but Palace are prepared to negotiate.

The Eagles will listen to offers of around £59.2m (€70m) for the Englishman, but the Tyneside outfit needs to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition to persuade Eze to move. They may also have to deal with Nottingham Forest, who are also monitoring the situation.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Eberechi Eze sits second for all-time assists at Crystal Palace with 28, only behind Wilfried Zaha (54)

Forest have fallen in the race for Champions League football, sitting a point behind Chelsea with two games left. This could help Newcastle win the race for the Palace man, whose last outing for Glasner’s side could come in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

A move for Eze, who Jamie Carragher thinks is a “superstar”, could also be influenced by Harvey Barnes who is facing an uncertain future. Reports suggest Aston Villa are keen on the Magpies winger.
