Paul Mullin given ‘desperate’ transfer update after ‘strange’ events at Wrexham that have seen promotion hero for Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney frozen out | Goal.com UK

Paul Mullin could make Wrexham return vs Bristol Rovers after what Phil Parkinson just said.

Paul Mullin may have just been offered some hope of making a return for Wrexham after comments from Phil Parkinson.

The future of Paul Mullin at Wrexham has been a major talking point among supporters for some time now.

The 30-year-old has not made a League One appearance since January 28 – three days prior to Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith signing.

Wrexham fans want Mullin back and continue to clamour for his return ahead of every single game.

It’s easy to see why that is the case, given that there can be no denying the Englishman is a club legend and perhaps the most important player in the Red Dragons’ history.

He’s scored over 100 goals and was so key to Wrexham climbing out of the National League and into League One for the first time since it was rebranded.

However, with only four matches of the season remaining, the Liverpool-born ace is running out of chances to make his return.

Nathan Salt has predicted that Mullin has played his last game for Wrexham this season and perhaps even ever.

That would be an unfortunate way to go for such an iconic figure, but recent comments from Phil Parkinson could be good news for the number nine.

With the promotion run-in now in full swing, the Wrexham manager has largely been selecting the exact same starting line-up and substitutes each week.

But, as per Leader Live, Parkinson has, ahead of Bristol Rovers, left the door open to changes being made.

“We’ve been on a good run but we’ve got to look at each game in its own merits and pick the team we feel is right for this game, which we always do.

“Whether that’s the same team or there’s changes, everyone will find out an hour before kick-off.”

Three ways Paul Mullin can get back in Wrexham squad for Bristol Rovers
After a disappointing 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic last time out, it would make sense for Parkinson to change up his attack.

Wrexham did not have a single shot on target across the 90 minutes of that tie, something that obviously has to change on Friday.

Mullin could make a return on the bench, with Jack Marriott the obvious option to drop out, given Steven Fletcher’s importance.

Alternatively, Parkinson could start three strikers on the bench, which he has done on a few occasions this term.

Lastly, Wrexham fans want Rodriguez dropped, and Mullin could return to the eleven in his place.
