Stoke City told route to survival as pundit puts ‘neck on line’..
The Potters are just one point clear of the Championship relegation zone with eight games to play – and host QPR next.
Stoke City have been told they will avoid relegation this season “by the skin of their teeth” – but Sky Sports EFL expert Don Goodman admits: “I don’t say that with much confidence.”
The Potters lost to injury-time goals at both Coventry City and Millwall in their last.
Those defeats have helped leave Stoke just one point clear of the Championship relegation zone with eight games to play.

And in an interview with Grosvenor Sport, Goodman says: “It’s been tough for Stoke City. If you look at their last three games in isolation, things have really gone against them and I’d suggest (manager) Mark Robins will be frustrated.
“They went to Coventry, his former club, and played really well only to concede a goal in the 97th minute which shouldn’t have stood as Haji Wright was offside.
“They get a great home win against Blackburn, but then are beaten away at Millwall courtesy of a 94th-minute penalty that should never have been given in a million years.

Goodman, the former West Brom, Sunderland and Wolves striker, added: “Now they’re only one point above the drop zone when it could and should have been three. Things seem to be conspiring against them, but they’ve got to keep believing and stick together. Mark Robins is the right man to ensure they do that.
“In the eight games they’ve got left, Stoke still play against the top two, three teams who have nothing to play for and three teams who sit below them.
“Those games against lower opposition are the ones which will decide whether they are a League One team or not next season.”
