Jorgen Strand Larsen sends six-word message on Instagram Wolves fans will love after Southampton brace….
Jorgen Strand Larsen scored his first goals of the calendar year, as Wolves recorded a huge 2-1 win over Southampton.
Vitor Pereira’s side have now opened up a big nine-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
It wasn’t a great performance by Wolves. But it is simply not about performances at the moment.
It’s purely about getting points on the board, and securing Premier League safety.
And that is now looking very likely, with Opta data giving Wolves just a 1.8% chance of slipping back into the relegation zone before the end of the season.
One major positive of the win over Southampton was the brace Jorgen Strand Larsen scored.
The Norwegian has faced criticism recently, but scored his eighth and ninth goals of the campaign on Saturday – and yesterday, he sent a message of defiance to supporters on social media.

Strand Larsen recently returned from injury for Wolves.
In the absence of Matheus Cunha, eyes were always going to be on him to stand up and be counted for.
And against the Saints, he came through.
He opened the scoring with a great header into the far corner after a lovely cross by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who continues to shine for Wolves.
Then, Strand Larsen doubled Wolves’ lead in the second-half, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Strand Larsen has recently been criticised by fans for apparent poor performances, where he’s struggled to be a threat and hold the ball up.
But against Southampton he was the difference, and he sent a message of defiance to fans on Sunday.
Taking to Instagram, he uploaded a few pictures from the game and said: “Always believe in yourself. I’m back 🤗”

He said (via Wolves official): “In the last game, he played with injury, he broke his hand two days before the match, and he had pains, and he tried to help the team, but it was very difficult for him.
“When we [supporters] don’t know the problem, we start to criticise, but I understand. Today he came and he proved that he is a player with personality, a team player, and, for me, it was not only the goals, it was the work that he did to help the team.”
That’s a subtle message from Pereira to suggest the recent criticism of Strand Larsen has been unwarranted, but it’s clear he’s pleased with his number nine’s contributions.
