Rockets Go ‘Big-Game Hunting’ in Offseason Mock Trade for Suns’ Superstar..

Major changes are expected to happen in the offseason for the Phoenix Suns as their season has not gone as planned thus far. With their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns were expected to compete near the top of the Western Conference. Instead, they find themselves sitting 11th in the West standings with a 30-35 record, which has them sitting two and a half games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the final Play-In spot. Because of their struggles, it is likely that the Suns will make some major roster moves in the offseason, which could see them move on from Durant. If Durant is moved in the offseason, there should be many teams interested in the future Hall of Famer and Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz recently proposed a mock trade that would send Durant to the Houston Rockets. Durant while sending Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, Dillon Brooks, Jock Landale and the Suns’ 2027 first-round pick to Phoenix. “The Rockets can afford to go big-game hunting this summer thanks to a collection of prospects and future first-round picks,” Swartz wrote. “If the Suns decide to trade Durant, Houston owns multiple Phoenix first-round picks and swap rights that the franchise will undoubtedly want back. Smith and Sheppard are both No. 3 overall picks who are 21 and 20 years old respectively and Brooks helps Phoenix stay competitive now.” This would be a great move for the Rockets as they would finally add a much-needed superstar player to their young core, but this deal also works out well for the Suns. Phoenix would remain competitive in the West without having to rebuild their roster due to the additions of Brooks and Smith Jr. Sheppard would also be a great addition, especially with him possibly receiving more playing time to continue to develop. While this trade would work well for both sides, the Rockets may not be willing to give up multiple pieces of their young core to add an aging superstar in Durant.
