Wolves plot blockbuster move for £34m elite striker amid fierce competition from Everton..
Wolves drew 1-1 at home to Everton over the weekend in the Premier League. Marshall Munetsi got their goal against the Toffees to cancel out Jack Harrison’s opener.
Vitor Pereira’s side are sat in 17th place in the table as they look to avoid relegation. They are six points above the drop zone and have 10 fixtures left to play this season…
The Midlands outfit are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Southampton. Their upcoming opponents are bottom of the league and are in the relegation places along with Ipswich Town and Leicester City.
Wolves have the chance to bolster their ranks later this year. It is hard to plan for their recruitment as they don’t know exactly what league they will be in.
According to CalcioMercato, they are admirers of Roma striker Tammy Abraham along with Everton and West Ham. His parent club spent £34million (as per Transfermarkt) to land him but he is currently on loan at AC Milan.
Abraham, 27, rose up through the academy ranks at Chelsea and had loan spells away from Stamford Bridge at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa to get some experience under his belt. He then broke into the Blues’ first-team before heading out the exit door on a permanent basis in 2021 when Roma came calling.
His long-term future in Serie A is now up in the air and Wolves said to be interested in landing him. He is due to return to his parent club when this campaign ends and they have a big decision to make on what to do with him next.
Vitor Pereira’s reaction to Everton.
Speaking after Wolves’ draw with Everton, Pereira said: “I’m very proud of my players, and we played a very consistent game against a difficult team. We tried everything to win the game and in the second half, we had a period with playing in the offensive midfield, creating situations and stopping the counter attacks, but for me, with this spirit I’m very confident.”
He added: “I like to see a team playing as a team, running together in the attack, running together when we must defend, and with personality and with confidence in themselves. Today, I saw everything, we showed everything and of course I’m not happy with the result, but in the end, it’s one point and one point can be important.”
Ahead of Southampton, he said: “It is important, it’s very important, but that’s because it’s the next game. When we start to speak about finals, I think if you start to carry it on your back, this responsibility is a problem.
