JOSEPH PAINTSIL DOES NOT WANT TO LEAVE GENK FOR LEEDS UNITED
HLN are reporting that Joseph Paintsil has decided to remain at Genk. The player had been subject of interest from Leeds United, whose first approach was rejected by the Belgian side. They sent the Yorkshire club a counter-offer, but have not heard back yet. However, it appears that there will be no need for Leeds to make a new offer as the winger would rather stay in Belgium. The report suggests that this also means that Paintsil is not interested in joining any other club either.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian winger had his best season since joining Genk during the 2022/2023 campaign. He scored 17 goals in 36 league games, while also providing 11 assists. So far this season, he has played four league games and provided two assists. He was also sent off during the sides Europa League qualifier against Olympiacos, which finished 1-1 and saw Genk knocked out. They are currently 2-1 up on aggregate against Adana Demirspor in the Europa Conference League.
On the other hand, his fellow wide man Mike Trésor could be set to join Burnley. The Premier League side want to bring him in on loan with a mandatory purchase option.
