Breaking: Green Bay Packers Sign Playmaker with 4.5-Second 40-Yard Dash
The Green Bay Packers are skilled at identifying hidden gems. In the middle to late rounds of the NFL Draft, the Packers have selected a number of cornerstone players. They have even discovered a few undrafted free agents who have contributed greatly to the team.
The Packers signed a player today that they believe will have a similar effect on the team.
Cornerback Gemon Green has signed with the Green Bay Packers, based on his Instagram account. As an undrafted free agent from the 2023 draft class, Green played for a while with the New York Giants last season.
In his four years at Michigan, Green made 42 appearances, 24 of which were starts. Among his achievements were 15 pass breakups and one interception. He received honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition in 2022, his last year.
In three preseason games with the Giants in 2023, Green played 69 defensive snaps and 14 special teams snaps. He made seven tackles (three stops) and gave up nine touchdown passes and 118 yards on nine catches on ten targets (one pass breakup) while covering the opposition.
After surgery, Green is cleared after suffering a shoulder injury during the Giants’ preseason game against the Jets.
In addition to covering 10-6 in the broad jump, hitting 37.5′′ in the vertical leap, finishing the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds, and finishing the three-cone drill in 7.1 seconds, Green (6-1, 183) also completed 12 bench press repetitions. At 6.64 out of 10.0, he has a Relative Athletic Score.
Green joins a group of cornerbacks in Green Bay that includes Robert Rochell, Corey Ballentine, Keisean Nixon, Eric Stokes, Carrington Valentine, and Jaire Alexander—all of whom were on the roster the previous season.
A defense led by Jeff Hafley will undoubtedly place a lot of emphasis on the secondary. In 2024, this team will benefit greatly from adding players who can play on special teams as well as in the secondary.
