He was meant to be a record-breaker at Wolves, now one Vitor Pereira signing has already ‘bypassed’ him…
Vitor Pereira’s three winter signings arrived in the January window to bolster the Wolves squad.
Though we are yet to see much of Nasser Djiga, the arrivals of Emmanuel Agbadou and Marshall Munetsi have been an early success.
Munetsi brought his rave reviews of Agbadou to Molineux, seeing the former Stade Reims duo reconnect in the West Midlands.
Pereira is thrilled with Agbadou, just as he is with Munetsi, who has already proven his worth to the Wolves manager after his winter transfer.

Hwang Hee-chan’s game time impacted by Marshall Munetsi’s arrival
Munetsi arrived at Wolves as a defensive midfielder however, the Zimbabwean has been utilised in an advanced role by Pereira.
The 28-year-old made his Premier League debut off the bench at Anfield and hasn’t looked back, starting every game for Wolves in the league since.
While it’s good news that the signing was a success, it’s not all rosy within the squad, as journalist Nathan Judah explained on the E&S Wolves Podcast.
The Wolves expert referenced Munetsi when sharing his opinion on Hwang Hee-chan, admitting that the Korean’s chances of getting game time are slim.

“You mentioned Hwang Hee-chan getting a chance, but I do feel the way that they’re [Wolves] looking now with the likes of Marshall Munetsi, I think that might have bypassed him.
“I’m going to be honest. I’m not sure we’ll see Hwang Hee-chan starting a game too much.”
Judah predicted that Munetsi’s emergence will keep Hwang away from the action for the foreseeable future, which is a stark contrast to how the 2021 signing was viewed only last season.
Rapid decline for Hwang at Wolves
Nuno Espirito Santo didn’t want to sign Hwang, but the Korean completed his move to Molineux shortly after the former manager’s exit.
Last season, the 29-year-old looked as though he would make Nuno eat his words, scoring six goals in his first 10 Premier League games.
Hwang was backed to make Wolves history last term with journalist Matt Maher encouraged that the forward could break John Richards’ 1974 record of being the last Wolves player to score 20 goals in a top-flight season.
Instead, things went downhill quickly for Hwang and are yet to come back up, with injuries, poor form, and a lack of confidence acting as a thief to the attacker’s hopes of maintaining his status at Wolves.
With Munetsi coming in and impressing, Hwang’s chances are shrinking week by week, in what could be a decisive summer for the player.
