Morgan Gibbs-White makes huge statement about Nottingham Forest fans after FA Cup defeat, Chris Wood agrees
Morgan Gibbs-White has made a big claim about Nottingham Forest fans following the club’s FA Cup defeat against Man City.
It wasn’t to be for the City Ground outfit, as Forest failed to come back from two hammer blows from the Citizens.
Despite their best efforts, Forest failed to lay a significant glove on Pep Guardiola’s side, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking selection earning criticism post-match.
Forest’s best chances on the afternoon would fall to Gibbs-White, and the midfielder would be prevented by the woodwork on two occasions.
No doubt still gutted by his Wembley heartbreak, the temporary Forest skipper has still made time to praise the performance of those off the pitch as well.
Morgan Gibbs-White praises Nottingham Forest support
Having reached their first FA Cup semi-final since 1991, it was no surprise to see thousands of Forest supporters descend on the capital.
Despite the disappointment of going behind early, the fans would still make their voices heard under the Wembley arches, drowning out the sound of the City supporters in the process.
Gibbs-White, who is linked to Man City, was keen to highlight the huge Forest support, even claiming it’s the best he’s ever seen.
Taking to Instagram, the midfielder said:
“Your support was the best I’ve ever seen. Sorry we couldn’t get the job done. Five more finals to go,”
Chris Wood sends message to Forest fans
Gibbs-White wasn’t the only Forest player to thank supporters after the game, with star striker Chris Wood praising supporters via Instagram.
“Not meant to be! Thank you as always for the support.”
Forest supporters will no doubt be heartbroken following their FA Cup exit, but they can still be buoyant at he fact they still have European football to play for.
Champions League is hugely important for Forest, and the fans will no doubt be on top form for the five remaining fixtures – or ‘cup finals’ as Gibbs-White would say.
Micah Richards and Gary Lineker left confused at Nuno Espirito Santo omission vs Man City, Forest fans agree
Nuno Espirito Santo has come in for criticism following Nottingham Forest’s defeat against Man City, with his decision to bench Anthony Elanga confusing both fans and pundits.
The Forest boss wasn’t afraid to make big decisions at Wembley, handing a surprise start to academy graduate Zach Abbott at right-back.
Not all of Espirito Santo’s selections paid off, however, with his decision to drop Anthony Elanga costing Forest dearly in the semi-final.
Ian Wright was confused by the Elanga omission, a sentiment also felt by Micah Richards and Gary Lineker.

Espirito Santo was questioned on the Elanga decision post-match, revealing that he didn’t necessarily regret benching the Swedish international at Wembley.
Having impressed for Forest in recent weeks, Elanga’s omission shocked supporters, something which has been echoed by Richards and Lineker.
Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Richards first revealed his confusion at the decision.
“I thought Forest did well. I missed all the chat before the game, but why was Elanga not starting?”
