Leeds United transfer rumours with Premier League ‘interest’ in Cresswell ‘impacting contract talks’

A round-up of the latest Leeds United transfer rumours

A look at the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Tuesday, July 25.

Charlie Cresswell waiting on Premier League ‘interest’ before making Leeds commitment

Last Word on Football claims Charlie Cresswell is waiting to see if Premier League interest comes to fruition before committing to a new contract at Leeds United. The Whites central defender was part of England U21s European Championship winning side and impressed on loan with Millwall last season.

The report claims two unnamed top flight clubs are tracking the central defender. Contrary to the report, Cresswell has two years left remaining on his current Whites’ deal which would suggest the Elland Road hierarchy are in a strong position.

The young defender is set for an increase in game time given the mass exodus at Elland Road this summer and has a season-long loan in the Championship under his belt. Cresswell featured in Leeds’ 2-0 defeat to AS Monaco in his most recent outing.

Leeds United in ‘advanced talks ‘to sign Karl Darlow

Leeds United hopes of landing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow have given a huge boost after Bournemouth agreed a loan deal with Inter Milan for Romanian shot stopper Andrei Radu. The Cherries have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Magpies goalkeeper this summer, with the Whites also keen on his services.

Eddie Howe’s side have set a reported asking price in the region of £5million for the 32-year-old. Darlow, who impressed on loan with Hull City in the second-half, was a target for Liam Rosenior’s side again this summer, but the Tigers boss said they’d been priced out of a move.

Fellow Championship side Middlesbrough were also said to be keen on signing Darlow, but Michael Carrick’s side moved quick to sign Seny Dieng from QPR, Jamie Jones from Wigan and Thomas Glover.

Bournemouth already have four goalkeepers on their books with Neto, Darren Randolph, Mark Travers and youngster Cameron Plain. Travers is reportedly a target for Stoke City, but the arrival of Radu would still mean a lot of competition for Darlow down on the south coast.

Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds now expected to seal ‘terrific’ signing

Leeds United appear to be edging closer to the signing of Karl Darlow.

The Whites have been looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks this summer.

And with Meslier’s Elland Road future uncertain, Leeds are having to act to bring in reinforcements.

Now, according to multiple sources including Fabrizio Romano, the Whites are seemingly getting their man.

Leeds were reportedly up against Premier League side Bournemouth for Darlow’s signature.

However, the Cherries have seemingly gone for another player, paving the way for Leeds to land the Newcastle man.

Here is what Romano wrote on Twitter about Darlow’s future amid links with Elland Road:

Our view

Credit to Leeds for closing in on a move for Darlow, a ‘terrific‘ goalkeeper who could do with a change of scenery.

He appears to be surplus to requirements at Newcastle and spend the second half of last season on loan at Hull.

Leeds Live reported that the Tigers were priced out of a move for Darlow and Middlesbrough were also keen.

Now, it looks like Daniel Farke’s charges will be getting their hands on the 32-year-old in the coming days.

Keith Downie reported on Twitter that Darlow “will travel back to the UK for a medical soon”.

Let’s see what happens in the coming days. Hopefully there’ll be an official Leeds announcement soon.

After Darlow: Leeds United active for third summer transfer with 27-y/o in “advanced talks” – Report

Leeds United are said to be in advanced talks to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara this week, as they chase an agreement to bring in Karl Darlow from Newcastle United too.

Leeds have been slow in terms of finding incoming transfers so far this summer, only signing Ethan Ampadu for £7million from Chelsea thus far.

Just under a fortnight remains before Leeds’ first game of the Championship season, and more is needed in various areas of Daniel Farke’s side.

Glen Kamara to Leeds?

Football Insider have now reported that Leeds are closing in on the signing of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara this week.

The 27-year-old has been absent from the Ibrox side’s pre-season friendlies recently due to illness, with his future up in the air this summer.

They claim that a £5million deal is close between Leeds and Rangers, and Leeds have seemingly muscled out plenty of competition:

“The 27-year-old’s ball retention skills have made him an attractive prospect for Championship clubs and he has been on the radar of up to ten second-tier clubs.”

Karl Darlow to Leeds?

It’s not the only deal that Leeds are pressing on with this week, with the YEP revealing that the club are also in advanced talks to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie backed up these reports by sharing that Leeds have offered a bigger fee to thr Magpies than Bournemouth, meaning a deal is close, with Darlow expected to travel to the UK for a medical once an agreement is reached.

Kamara would be a great way for us to improve our midfield even more after signing Ampadu, given what he would also bring to the table.

We need a midfielder capable of advancing beyond a double pivot, and Kamara can do that for Leeds if he joins.

For the fee being talked about here too, we are getting good value-for-money, knowing he won’t break the bank.

JUST IN: Leeds United has now sign another excellent midfielder from……….

Leeds United-linked midfielder Han-Noah Massengo reportedly rejects Burnley move following Bristol City exit

Leeds United-linked midfielder Han-Noah Massengo has reportedly rejected a move to Premier League side Burnley.

The 22-year-old is a free agent following his departure from Bristol City and The Athletic have reported interest from Leeds in securing his signature. According to L’Equipe, the midfielder received a “concrete approach” from Burnley but turned it down.

Massengo is said to favour a club where he could play an important role, which the Clarets reportedly “did not necessarily offer him”. This could be music to the ears of Leeds, who have already lost midfielders Adam Forshaw and Brenden Aaronson in the current window and could potentially offer Massengo a prominent role.

The France youth international was a high-profile capture for Bristol City in 2019, joining from Monaco for a reported fee of £7.2m. He made a total of 110 appearances for the Robins but ended the 2022/23 campaign out on loan at Auxerre in his native France.

Leeds have made just one senior signing so far this summer, recruiting the versatile Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

Leeds United news as all three relegated sides all facing ‘same problem’ ahead of new season

Catch up on all of this mroning’s latest Leeds United headlines

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, July 25.

Leeds United face ‘same problem’ as Leicester City and Southampton

We’re now less than a fortnight away from the start of the Championship season and the transfer uncertainty facing Leeds United is not exclusive to Daniel Farke’s side.

Former Whites midfielder Carlton Palmer believes that the two other sides that dropped out of the Premier League with Leeds last season are both facing big question marks that will not be resolved until the transfer window shuts in less than five weeks’ time.

Speaking to FLW, Palmer was discussing Southampton, claiming that the issues they face are similar to the fellow Championship new boys.

“I predict that Southampton will be in the play-offs,” Palmer said. “They have appointed a very good manager in Russell Martin, they have a very solid squad.

They have the same problem as Leeds and Leicester, until the transfer window shuts, they don’t know which players they will be able to work with entering into the new season.

“But with that said, they have already bought well, they have players who excelled out on loan in the Championship last season like Nathan Tella, making 38 appearances, scoring 17 goals and adding five assists in a Burnley side that romped the league.”

Milan van Ewijk’s admission Leeds United supporters will love amid transfer link

Heerenveen right-back has been linked with a move to Leeds United this summer and there is one quality he possesses that will be invaluable to any side keen to win promotion from the Championship.

The 22-year-old played every single minute for the Eredvisie side before also going on to play in all three of the Netherlands’ matches in the recent under-21 European championships.

Van Ewijk, who scored six goals from full-back last season, helped Heerenveen reach the Eredivisie’s Europa Conference League play-offs, and has been linked with a move to Elland Road as well as with the Whites’ Championship rivals Coventry City.

In what will be a gruelling 46-game season, Leeds will need players who are robust and healthy enough to deal with the rigours of a Championship promotion challenge.

And van Ewijk would seemingly fit the bill, as he discussed his long season prior to joining up with the Dutch squad in Georgia.

Farke’s strength in depth assessed as c push in the transfer window

Leeds United secured their first summer addition last week in the shape of Ethan Ampadu, but it’s fair to say they have plenty more work to do before the window shuts on September 1.

The Whites have seen a host of players leave the club this summer and they must be replaced, while Daniel Farke will be keen to bolster the amount of quality options at his disposal, too, as the Whites prepare for the start of the new Championship season.

With that in mind, Leeds Live has assessed United’s current squad depth as the club look to add to their ranks.
