BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham demanding big fee for 22-year-old, Daniel Levy won’t let him leave on loan again
Tottenham demanding big fee for 22-year-old, Daniel Levy won’t let him leave on loan again
Tottenham Hotspur are set to demand a big fee for Bryan Gil this summer amid further interest from Spain.
A report from ABC de Sevilla has shared more details about the 22-year-old’s future.
There was plenty of excitement around Bryan Gil when Tottenham signed the young winger for £21.6m in 2021.
He joined from Sevilla after a successful season on loan at Eibar, with Erik Lamela going the other way.
Unfortunately, he failed to make a league start in his first six months at the club and was sent to Valencia on loan where the fans took to him quickly.
Antonio Conte was very harsh towards Gil at the start of last season, suggesting he wasn’t a realistic option for the Premier League.
He went out on loan again in January to Sevilla and started the Europa League final as they went on to win the trophy once again.
Sevilla are now keen to sign Gil on loan again from Tottenham, but Daniel Levy now wants a large fee for the 22-year-old.
The club aren’t keen to see him depart temporarily for a third season in a row.
Tottenham demand large fee for Gil
The report from ABC de Sevilla suggests the Spanish club have a problem on the left wing right now.
They’re considering several options to fill the gap, including Bryan Gil.
After impressing during his six months at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan last season, they want the 22-year-old back.
However, Sevilla know Tottenham will demand a large fee for Gil and instead just want him on loan for another season.
It’s easy to understand why Daniel Levy and Spurs aren’t too keen on this outcome.
They’ve spent a large fee on Gil and will be reluctant to allow the club they bought him from to continue using him long after selling him.
However, Gil needs minutes and the signing of Manor Solomon this summer might have pushed him further down the pecking order.
Stylistically, he suits Ange Postecoglou’s system very well.
Unfortunately, he’s now injured and that may scupper any plans for him to move on this summer.
That might be a blessing in disguise as he may be able to work his way into the team when he’s back in training.

BREAKING NEWS: Club has now accepted £55m offers for ‘wizard’ that Ange Postecoglou desperately wants at Tottenham
Club will listen to offers for £55m ‘wizard’ that Postecoglou wants at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella in recent weeks.
For instance, FT recently reported that Spurs were ‘closely following’ the Spaniard’s situation in West London.
Apparently, Ange Postecoglou wants to add Cucurella to his ranks to play alongside Yves Bissouma.
Tottenham have already bolstered their ranks significantly this summer, including in midfield.
Spurs have landed Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon in the past few weeks.
In addition, Dejan Kulusevski has also signed permanently for Tottenham after his impressive loan at N17.
However, as per the Daily Mail, Spurs are looking to bolster their midfield further, as well as their back line.
And now, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website has suggested that Tottenham’s path to Cucurella has just opened up.
The outlet claims that Chelsea are open to offers for the 25-year-old midfielder.
Cucurella is said to be eager to stay, but if the club wants to get rid of him, he may have to consider his future.
Our view
Tottenham have fared fairly well in pre-season and on the transfer front this summer.
Postecoglou looks like a good shout for Spurs, a manager who can drag them back up into the upper echelons of the league.
Cucurella is a top talent who’s Premier League-proven and has a high ceiling, so he’s certainly an exciting lead for Tottenham.
Scouting outlet TMS deemed him a ‘two-footed wizard who excels in possession of the ball’ and ‘one of the most versatile players on the planet’ last year.
Admittedly, Cucurella hasn’t been amazing at Chelsea since they signed him for an initial £55million last year.
Then again, there were very few Blues players who emerged with any credit from their dismal 2022-23 campaign.
Obviously the price tag will play a big part. How much of a loss would they be willing to take, and how much would Spurs be willing to pay?

Chris Powell leaves role at Tottenham before new season
Spurs’ head of academy coaching departs after three years with his boyhood club
hris Powell has decided to leave his role at Tottenham.
Standard Sport understands that former England defender and Charlton boss Powell has opted to leave Spurs after three years in north London.
The 53-year-old was first recruited by Tottenham back in the summer of 2020 as head of youth coaching as part of a restructure of their academy following the departure of John McDermott to the Football Association (FA).
However, Powell has now decided to stand down from that job ahead of the 2023/24 season.
A former England international defender, Powell had a long and successful playing career as a full-back, most notably with the likes of Charlton, Southend and Derby, also representing Crystal Palace, West Ham, Watford and Leicester before retiring after 23 years in 2010.
He later served as caretaker boss at both Leicester and Derby and also had permanent spells in charge of Charlton, Huddersfield and Southend.
Tottenham have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, a player former Spurs boss Antonio Conte once labelled ‘one of the best’ strikers in the world.
Spurs will be keen to determine Harry Kane’s future sooner rather than later amid strong interest from Bayern Munich.
Tottenham officials meet with Bayern chiefs on Monday to discuss a move for Kane, but Sky Sports reports the Bundesliga giants remain £20 million off Spurs’ valuation.
Nevertheless, Tottenham have been linked with a host of strikers as they prepare for the possibility of Kane leaving.
And Football Transfers reports that Spurs are considering an attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan.
The report states that Ange Postecoglou is keen to sign the Belgian striker, with Spurs willing to cover his £300,000-a-week wages.
And with Postecoglou reportedly interested in signing Lukaku, former Spurs boss Antonio Conte is also a huge fan of the striker
Conte on Lukaku
Speaking to L’Equipe ahead of the European Championships back in 2021, Conte lauded Lukaku as one of the best strikers in world football.
Of course, the Italian worked with Lukaku during his time at Inter Milan and the Chelsea striker thrived under his guidance.
“Right now, he is one of the best strikers in the world,” Conte said. “He already had important physical and technical skills, but in these two years we have made him progress even more.
“His presence in the match, his teamwork and clarity in front of goal [has improved].”
It’s fair to say that Lukaku’s £97.5 million switch to Chelsea hasn’t worked out after he admitted his desire to return to Milan just months after moving to West London.
He spent last season on loan at Inter, but the Nerazzurri pulled out of a deal to sign him permanently this summer after learning he was also talking to Juventus.
Lukaku has proven he can mix it in the Premier League after brilliant spells with Everton and West Bromwich Albion. But it would be a huge surprise to see Spurs move for him if Kane leaves.
While he boasts brilliant qualities in the air and the box, he doesn’t seem well-suited to Postecoglou’s style of play.

Journalist names Tottenham as likely destination for £204k-p/w defender as club work to sell him
Spurs: Tottenham named as likely destination for Lenglet
Tottenham Hotspur have been named as a likely landing spot for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet as Xavi’s side work to offload him this summer.
Who will Spurs sign?
The Lilywhites are reliably believed to be chasing a new central defensive star or two, coming after they conceded more goals than any other top flight side above 15th last season.
Spurs leaked a pretty awful 63 league goals over 2022/2023, backing the obvious need for defensive cover, and there have been no shortage of star man linked with a move to north London.
Ange Postecoglou has highlighted the need for signings in that area of the park, and has recently admitted that Tottenham are working on it behind-the-scenes.
“That’s definitely our intention, absolutely,” said the Spurs head coach.
“We’ve been working on it for a while and we’ll definitely try to get it done as quickly as possible.
“I don’t think it’s any secret about some of the areas we needed to strengthen. Some of it I identified early on. The goalkeeper was one and central defence is another.
“In terms of the other boys, we’ve got a big squad but my view is I wanted to bring them along and just work with them, get some clarity in my head and give clarity to them.”

Lenglet, who spent last campaign on a season-long loan at Spurs, is one of the defenders who could well come in to bolster Postecoglou’s options.
The Frenchman stands in elite company, with Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, Galatasary’s Victor Nelsson and Juventus defender Gleison Bremer all linked too.
Rumoured to be on around £204,000-per-week, Barca are eager to offload Lenglet and clear up their wage bill, with the 28-year-old being largely relegated to the bench during their pre-season tour.
Lenglet’s future, as a result, “seems far” from the Camp Nou. That is according to journalist Jordi Battle, who writes an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the former Sevilla star.
Battle, sharing news for Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, says Barca are “working to release” central defender and Tottenham “could also be the destination” for him.
However, there is apparently still work to do, as the proposals which have arrived at Barca’s door haven’t been convincing enough yet.
How good is Clement Lenglet?
The ex-Lilywhites ace featured regularly during his 22/23 loan spell, under a trio of different managers in Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.
Lenglet is an adept ball-playing defender, having averaged a noteworthy 87.5% passing accuracy for Spurs last season, with only Cristian Romero managing a higher number (WhoScored).
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, speaking to the press after Tottenham signed Lenglet last summer, was effusive in his praise.
“He’s a modern defender,” said Lloris.
“Comfortable to be able to play from the back. He has a great left foot and can be very strong in one v one and he’s strong in the air.
“Even if it’s never easy when you arrive in the Premier League and he will have to adapt to the intensity of the games but he is a high level player, with experience.”
