Tottenham submit verbal offer to sign 20-goal star, club demanding in excess of €30m
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their attacking options with the signing of Gift Orban from Belgian club KAA Gent.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, talks are currently ongoing between Tottenham and the Belgian club through intermediaries.
Spurs have reportedly offered €27 million verbally but the Belgian outfit are holding out for a fee in excess of €30 million. An official bid from the London club is expected to be submitted next week.
Orban is regarded as one of the most talented young attacking players around Europe right now and he scored 20 goals across all competitions last season.
Tottenham have sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane and it is no surprise that they are looking to bring in a striker.
Tottenham will have to replace the England international adequately and they might need to bring in multiple attacking signings in order to fill the void left by him.
Kane was more than just a goalscorer, and his playmaking abilities will be missed as well.
Orban has the potential to develop into a reliable Premier League goalscorer and the opportunity to join Tottenham will be exciting for him.
It would be a major step up in his career and regular football in the Premier League would accelerate his development.
The newly appointed Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou prefers a free-flowing style of attacking football and he has a reputation for getting the best out of his players.
He could be the ideal manager to nurture Orban into an established forward in the coming seasons.

Report: Spurs now ready to smash transfer record to sign Kane replacement
Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to smash their transfer record to secure a top-tier striker following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich.
This morning, we relayed a report from The Athletic, which suggested that Spurs had been planning for the contingency of Kane’s departure for a year.
The report explained that the club had decided that rather than securing one big-name replacement, it would be more prudent to sign a couple of forwards to give Ange Postecoglou more options for his fluid frontline.
It was suggested that the Lilywhites could thus go after a young, up-and-coming striker such as Gent’s Gift Orban.
Spurs want one top-tier striker to replace Harry Kane
However, Football Insider have now contradicted that claim, insisting that Tottenham want to secure a ‘A-list replacement’ for Kane.
The report adds that the club’s search for a big-name centre-forward is set to go into overdrive over the next couple of weeks.
It is alleged that the North London club are even prepared to shatter their previous record outlay – the £54m they paid to Lyon for Tanguy Ndombele back in 2019.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is not a matter of spending big money but rather about identifying the right sort of player. If someone like Osimhen was available and willing to come to Spurs, it would even make sense to spend the entire Kane fee on the Nigerian.
However, spending £60m-£70m on players such as Dusan Vlahovic or Randal Kolo Muani would entail a lot of risk as there is no guarantee that they would be able to succeed in the Premier League.
