Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has finally agreed to leave the club on loan, securing a move to French side Olympique de Marseille. The deal includes an obligation for Marseille to buy him permanently at the end of the 2024/25 season, effectively marking the end of his four-year tenure at Spurs.
Højbjerg had been linked with a move away for several transfer windows, with clubs like Atlético Madrid and Juventus previously showing interest. However, a deal never materialized until now. The Danish midfielder, who joined Tottenham in 2020 from Southampton, had fallen down the pecking order under manager Ange Postecoglou and was eager to find a new challenge. He will now play under Marseille’s coach Roberto De Zerbi, who sees him as a key addition to the squad.
In addition to Højbjerg’s departure, Tottenham have also loaned young midfielder Matthew Craig to League One side Barnsley for the 2024/25 season. Craig, a product of Spurs’ academy, previously had a short loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, where he gained valuable first-team experience.
With these moves, Tottenham continue their squad reshuffle, offloading surplus players while preparing for the upcoming Premier League se
