Among all the coaches who spent January on the road, none more so than Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day’s David Sanders, a five-star offensive tackle who is ranked #1. Just one day after 247Sports paid him a visit prior to the end of the winter contact period, Sanders was visited by representatives from five schools, including Georgia head coach Kirby Smart.
In January, Sanders paid a visit to Clemson for its annual junior day. Georgia had requested his visit for the final weekend of the month, but the weekend fell on his younger sister’s basketball tournament. Earlier in the month, we were unable to go to Knoxville due to unfavorable winter weather.
Consequently, in January, Clemson was the only university to have him visit campus.
Sanders remarked, “Clemson was definitely amazing in every way.” Matt Luke, the offensive line coach in his first year, was outstanding. It was on junior day at Clemson that I had the opportunity to speak with him for the first time. He visited my school a few times, so I had the opportunity to speak with him there as well. Coach (Thomas) Austin was excellent; I thought he did a great job. However, things are unquestionably a little bit different with coach Luke. He approaches his work with far more intention and a hint of increased passion. Five of the top offensive linemen in the nation have signed with him. And he has a track record of developing players into high-draft selections in the NFL.
“Coach Dabo Swinney is undoubtedly coach Swinney. He doesn’t ever alter. Coach Swinney is my guy; he calls me frequently.”
Bottom-line pitch from Clemson? Sanders commanded, “Come here and change the program.” Take the lead. They simply want someone to step in, take charge of that program, and be a leader after a few difficult years at Clemson.”
Sanders also spoke about Tennessee and Georgia, two powerhouses in his recruiting
Georgia: “Undoubtedly, one of my favorite coaches is Coach Smart. He recruits me quite effectively. I adore everything about him. I adore their curriculum and the way they help players grow.”
Tennessee: “Excellent coaches and a great culture.” Every employee is incredibly sincere. With the guys they are adding to the program, they are headed in the right direction. [The Vols’ five-star commitment] My friend George MacIntyre is a terrific quarterback, and I’m glad they have him coming in.”
The 16-year-old, who turns 17 later this month, has this to say about what comes next: “I just want to sit down and relax with my parents.” Reduce the list by a small amount. Just unwind from the entire situation.”

However, try to get him on campus for spring practices in March or April by contacting the ‘Dawgs, Vols, and Tigers. Before he announces a full official visit schedule, of course, Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others, will push for unofficial visits during the spring.
In the end, according to Sanders, he wants to be in a place where he can: A) develop both on and off the field; and B) where the environment and coaches help him feel most at home.
His goal is to commit to a preseason schedule.
Sanders stated that his off-season goals are to “become bigger, stronger, faster, and a leader for my senior year.”
Sanders stated that his favorite league tackle to watch is Paris Johnson Jr.
Sanders stated, “I believe our games are similar.” “The athletic ability, quick feet, and strong hands.”
Sanders’s ultimate ambition is to work as an orthopedic surgeon or as a left tackle in the NFL.
He is expected to enroll in the midyear. Sanders stated that he weighs 270 pounds and stands 6 feet 7 inches tall.
According to 247Sports, he is rated second overall in the 2025 class.
