Breaking: A former starter for the Green Bay Packers makes an astonishing return to the league
The news that a former player has decided to return to the league and signed a contract caught Green Bay Packers fans off guard today.
On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of cornerback Kevin King. King has been out of the NFL for the past two years, but this transaction brings him back.
King’s professional resume lists five active seasons from 2017 to 21 as he arrives in Atlanta. King was originally selected in the second round by the Green Bay Packers with a pick out of Washington. King and the Packers reached an agreement in 2021 for a one-year contract after he played for four years on a rookie contract.
King decided to skip the season in 2022 due to personal reasons. In an attempt to prepare for a training camp, he tore his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout, which caused him to miss 2023. On May 5, 2023, King posted a 21-minute YouTube video in which he detailed everything that had happened.
King hasn’t played in the NFL in a long. He played in 51 regular-season games and started 42 games during his five-year tenure in Green Bay.
He has 197 tackles, seven interceptions, 30 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and 30 passes defensed in his career. 2017 saw him selected from the University of Washington.
