Monday saw a bit of movement at the top with Wrexham and Wycombe once again swapping places after Wrexham’s 2-1 win at Blackpool and after Wycombe lost 4-0 away at Charlton Athletic to slip back down into 3rd.

Phil Parkinson’s side are once again in the driving seat in the race for 2nd. But they come up against an in for and formidable Charlton Athletic side on Saturday: Nathan Jones’ side have won their last three and have only lost three league games all year.

Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will no doubt be glued to Saturday’s game and the latter may even be in attendance at the Racecourse, after McElhenney attended Wrexham’s game at Blackpool. Reynolds may even make the trip over for this potential promotion-clincher.

Charlton Athletic set to be without Chuks Aneke for Wrexham clash
If ever there was a time where Wrexham needed a bit of luck, it’s now. And they might have been handed their dose of luck ahead of Saturday with Charlton Athletic currently set to be without key man Chuks Aneke who was sent off against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Jones is unhappy with Aneke’s red card and it remains to be seen whether or not the club appeal the decision. But as things stand, Aneke is suspended for Saturday’s game in Wales and it’s certainly a headache for Jones, but a boost for Parkinson with Aneke having six goal contributions in 26 League One games for the Addicks this season.

When the two teams met at The Valley earlier in the season, Wrexham drew 2-2 with Charlton Athletic, with Andy Cannon scoring a second half equaliser.

Wrexham don’t have any suspensions going into Saturday: Dobson did pick up a 10th yellow card of the season on Monday but we’re now after the 38th game of the season and so he avoids suspension for Saturday’s game.

But Parkinson remains without several first-team players through injury including Cannon, Luke Bolton, Will Boyle, and Mo Faal who is a new injury concern for Wrexham.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin remain exiled at Wrexham and neither look set to return to the squad for such an integral and high-intensity game on Saturday either.

Kick off is at 5:30pm.
