Wrexham transfer strategy revealed, owners facing wages challenge
Should the club make history by being the first team in the English Football League to win three successive promotions, Wrexham would be one step away from their ultimate goal of the Premier League.
TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey has told Wrexham Insider what fans can expect from the club this summer but warns of challenges never seen before at the Racecourse Ground.
Bailey stated: “”Wrexham are going to be going big in the Championship, not Birmingham big, but big. The bounce effect is real, we saw that most recently with Ipswich and Wrexham, if they go up as expected think they will.

“The one thing Wrexham will find now is the how big the wages are in the Championship – it’s all very well over paying for League One and League Two levels – but we are going to be bordering Premier League money now, a whole different ball game.”
Wrexham’s current wages won’t cut it in the Championship
As per Salary Sport, Wrexham’s current wage bill for 2025 is £112,830 per week and that amounts to £5,867,160 per year.
It is highly likely, should the Red Dragons gain promotion, that their wage bill increase significantly if they want to keep and attract better quality of players.

Players such as Welsh international Lawrence will be demanding five figure wages to join the club and whilst transfer fees may not necessarily inflate too much from what the club is used to, salaries will.
Reynolds and McElhenney will be aware that with progress there comes challenges and this is just another hurdle the Wrexham owners will have to navigate to reach their dream.
