Brentford make contact ‘in last few hours’ for signing – Making transfer efforts

Brentford are in the picture to sign Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil, according to a report from Italy.

The 24-year-old was out of action for more than four months last season and was restricted him to 26 appearances, managing a goal and three assists in the process. He failed to register an assist since last September, but that hasn’t put off the Bees.

According TuttoMercatoWeb, the attacker has caught the attention of clubs in England and Germany, especially the Bees and Eintracht Frankfurt.

It’s further stated both these sides have made contact ‘in the last few hours’ to sign the player.

TMW don’t specify if Thomas Frank’s side approached the Serie A club, the player’s camp or both. Sottil’s contract lasts until 2026 and the report adds he could be on his way out of Fiorentina in the next few weeks.

Brentford and the Bundesliga side aren’t the only clubs involved as a Thursday report from TMW stated Monza and Frosinone are also showing interest in Sottil.

Frank’s side have started the work to sign the attacker and whether they’ll be successful remains to be seen.

Brentford interest causing problems for club – Helping to drive up agents demands

Brentford’s interest in PSV Eindhoven striker Isaac Babadi is causing problems for the Dutch club as they look to get the highly rated youngster signed to a new deal.

That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who covers the player today and how his agent is using the interest in him to his advantage.

A report earlier this year indicated that Brentford were keen on Babadi and seriously looking at him as they look to continue their efforts to plan for the future and identify new talent.

That report was followed by another earlier this month explaining that the Bees were more than willing to pay big to sign the striker, in terms of a transfer fee and wages.

In the meantime, PSV have been desperately trying to get Babadi signed to a new deal at the club as his current contract expires in 2024 and he will be free to start pre-contract negotiations with clubs around Europe as early as the January transfer window.

Those negotiations have not been going well to date, with it explained that the initial demands from the player were far apart from PSV’s initial offerings.

And it seems they are not being aided in their efforts by the likes of Brentford, whose interest the agent seems to be using to their advantage.

“His agent has a more than excellent negotiating position: Babadi’s current contract expires next year, and big clubs are lurking and offer several hundred thousand in salary,” Elfrink told Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Soccer News.

“In a world in which clubs battle each other to attract talent, Babadi’s agent is the laughing and PSV is in a difficult position. A new contract will cost much more in a few years than a few months ago.

“All parties hope to finalise the matter quickly so that Babadi can concentrate on his further development. That is in the interest of the player himself, in the interest of PSV and may also be in the interest of Dutch football.”
