This weekend marked the official start of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. While we usually see athletes and their families crying during the highs and lows of competition, they are by no means the only ones. After performing a rendition of Édith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour” in front of the Eiffel Tower to finish out the Olympic opening ceremony, Canadian singer onCeline Di seemed to cry up at a fan interaction.

In a video that was uploaded on X, formerly Twitter, Celine can be seen walking down a line to greet supporters after the ceremony. When she approaches someone who is holding a single rose, she becomes obviously emotional and says, “Merci, Celine.”

The fan described the moment, saying, “Soooo I got to give Celine my rose after her Hymne à l’amour performance tonight,” after sharing the video on social media with the username @DusseldorfWig. Naturally, many of Celine’s admirers couldn’t stop drooling over the adorable moment between the two once they witnessed it. The entire exchange is available to watch here.

“The fact that she takes her time to honestly acknowledge the person giving her a flower and look into their eyes with gratitude is just so sweet from a big star like her,” a person commented on the photo. “I hope she’s doing alright! She looks amazing,” someone else commented. “She also appeared to be deeply moved. I appreciate you sharing ❤️,” another individual wrote. A supporter remarked, “Love Celine, and she looks so genuinely grateful for the love and support of her fans.”

This was only a small glimpse of the outpouring of love the singer, who is known for hits like “My Heart Will Always Go On” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” received this weekend. As many know, Celine hadn’t publicly performed in over four years since she was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder Stiff Person Syndrome. According to Billboard, her global Spotify streaming numbers have jumped 36%, with a 64% jump in France specifically.

Many fans are left wondering what’s next for Celine, and although there has been no official confirmation on her next projects, there have been rumors of a potential Las Vegas show on the horizon.
