Mookie Betts dealt with an illness that the LA Times reported to be norovirus for over two weeks. He lost nearly 20 pounds and wasn’t able to hold down solid foods.

Then, just ahead of Thursday’s Opening Day, it was revealed that utility man Kiké Hernández was dealing with a stomach bug that included vomiting and the inability to hold down solid foods.

“I got a text from him earlier today that he wasn’t feeling well and didn’t sleep well and couldn’t keep stuff down,” manager Dave Roberts said of Hernández before the game. “(We’re) trying to just get some fluids in him, rest up, and hopefully we can stay away from him. But let’s just hope that it’s not what Mookie dealt with.”

A third Dodgers player revealed he was also dealing with a bit of a stomach bug this past month. Right-handed reliever Michael Kopech told reporters that he was battling “similar stuff to what Mookie had but probably not as severe.”

He didn’t travel with the team to Japan as he opened the season on the injured list with right shoulder impingement.

Kopech and Betts are better now, but Hernández appears to be in the thick of his illness. The Dodgers are hoping it’s not what Betts dealt with, because if it is, Hernández could end up missing the next week or so.

Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Responds to Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s Viral Claims..

Officers clash with 'hostile' baseball fans in Los Angeles after Dodgers win World Series, police say - ABC News

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas has responded to pointed comments made by New York Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr., whose recent viral interview with The Athletic included allegations of racism and clubhouse misconduct dating back to their time together on the Miami Marlins. In the interview, Chisholm alleged that Rojas destroyed a custom pair of cleats made for Chisholm’s MLB debut in 2020 by cutting them up and pouring milk inside. Chisholm framed the incident as racially charged, stating, “If this was a White boy’s stuff, you weren’t gonna cut that s- up.” The comments have drawn attention across the baseball world, leading to backlash and defense from current and former players. Speaking before the Dodgers’ home opener on Thursday, Rojas kept his response measured. “There are people who are going to air out what’s happening in a clubhouse, and I’m not really going to talk about it,” he said to The Athletic. “I have my own opinions… but I’m going to be professional and keep it in-house.” While he did not directly address the specifics of Chisholm’s story, Rojas pushed back on the idea that his actions were racially motivated. “It’s really uncomfortable saying these old-school rules are written by White people,” said Rojas, who is Venezuelan. “I come from Latin America. I keep learning about cultures. I want to continue to learn all cultures.”
