Dodgers Call Up Triple-A Pitcher To Start Tuesday’s Game…

As expected, the Blake Snell 15-day injured list designation has had a ripple effect on the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitchers. After recalling Matt Sauer over the weekend, the Dodgers have sent him back to Triple-A Oklahoma City for Justin Wrobleski, according to the team’s official X account: This should come as no surprise to Los Angeles fans as Sauer was always going to be a bullpen fill-in, while Wrobleski will get the start tonight at the Washington Nationals. Sauer has a decent repertoire and could certainly find himself back on a MLB roster sometime this summer, although it would likely be due to another injury. The 26-year-old former second-round draft pick of the New York Yankees appeared in Monday’s loss, going one and 2/3 innings with one earned run on three

hits. For Wrobleski, this is a massive opportunity to prove himself in the show. He debuted for the Dodgers last summer, going 1-2 with a 5.70 ERA and 6.36 FIP over 36 and 1/3 innings. However, he is still the No. 11 ranked prospect in Los Angeles’ farm system and the second-best left-handed pitcher behind Jackson Ferris, who is not projected to make the majors until at least next season. Wrobleski has a strong, mid-90s fastball with a slider as his secondary pitch. He was excellent for Double-A Tulsa in 2024, going 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 62 strikeouts over 67 and 2/3 innings, but he was roughed up to the tune of a 5.46 ERA for Oklahoma City. Considering the Dodgers’ ridiculous lineup and deep bullpen, Wrobleski will not be leaned upon too heavily tonight. But, should he register a solid start, he could rise above fellow Triple-A starting pitcher teammates like Bobby Miller and Landon Knack.
