Jean-Clair Todibo breaks silence after shock claims he regrets joining and West Ham want to sell him already..
Big money star Jean-Clair Todibo has spoken out with the clear intention of addressing claims he regrets joining and West Ham want to sell him already.
Watching Jean-Clair Todibo play for West Ham at times is like poetry in motion.
The big French defender was arguably the jewel in the crown of what looked, on paper at least, to be a stunning transfer window from the Hammers last summer.
The deal was officially an initial loan, but it was a permanent move in all but name.
Todibo only needed to make five Premier League starts – and West Ham stay up – for a £32m deal to be triggered.
Todibo’s difficult debut season at West Ham
What has followed has been a season of frustration for Todibo and the Hammers which means the jury is very much still out on him and his future.
Todibo is an imposing, cool and calm customer who is excellent on the ball.
It’s easy to see why Barcelona signed him as a younger player for £20m.

But it’s also easy to see why things didn’t work out for Todibo at the Camp Nou because West Ham do not look like a team who have spent £72m on two new centre-backs at times.
That’s not all Todibo’s fault of course with the club’s midfield issues regarded as the single biggest problem needing to be solved this summer.

Todibo has seen his attitude and fitness questioned this season, especially after a major falling out with Julen Lopetegui.
He was reportedly among a group of five players demanding to leave if the Spaniard wasn’t sacked.
Todibo has struggled to make it through 90 minutes, often subbed off in games – even in the last home game of the season against Forest. Injuries have been a problem too.
He and Max Kilman were found wanting as Forest scored what turned out to be the winner from a free-kick.
With West Ham making it clear to anyone who will listen that they need to sell players due to PSR, speculation has been rife about Todibo.
Todibo breaks silence over his West Ham future
Now the big money star has broken his silence after shock claims he regrets joining and West Ham want to sell him already.
It has been reported on more than one occasion this season that Todibo regrets signing for West Ham.
Especially since Tim Steidten, the man who persuaded him to come and convinced him of the “project”, was sacked mid-season.
Fresh speculation ignited last month that Todibo could leave West Ham to join Man United this summer.
Red Devils chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe admitted he wanted to sign Todibo last summer. But UEFA blocked the move due to INEOS’ involvement in the ownership of Nice and Man United.

There were recently reports Todibo wants out of West Ham if Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus are sold this summer. Given they are expected to be the first two players out of the door due to the PSR situation, that is quite damning.
Hammers insider Sean Whetstone, who counts co-owner David Sullivan as a close contact, recently claimed there are concerns over Todibo’s inability to last 90 minutes.
Whetstone also stated West Ham are looking to perform a ‘quick flip’ sale of Todibo this summer.
Todibo has praised Graham Potter, insisting things will come good under the Englishman.
Now the 25-year-old appears to have made his intentions this summer perfectly clear.
Following the disappointing defeat to Forest, Todibo took to social media to send a message to West Ham fans – and perhaps even the owners too.
Todibo makes it clear he wants to stay at West Ham
Particularly with four crucial words at the end of his post.
As he seems focused on being at the London Stadium next season.
“Final home game of the season,” Todibo said alongside pictures of him in action as well as crossed Hammers and bubbles emojis.
“Huge thanks to the fans – see you next season.”

That doesn’t sound like a player who is desperate to get out of West Ham.
If Todibo was planning on leaving he would have just left it at thanking Hammers fans.
The decision may be taken out of his hands of course if West Ham’s owners do intend to sell him straight on.
The big hope for the Hammers and Potter is that he will find that missing 20 per cent and second gear once he has a full pre-season behind him.
Todibo certainly has all the attributes to be an elite Premier League and international defender.
Let’s hope he proves that at West Ham.
