Newcastle United issue stance on Tino Livramento after agents leak Man City stories.

The Magpies are keen to work with 22-year-old Tino Livramento for years to come despite unsettling talk of Man City swooping next month.

Newcastle United are set to take a strong stance on Tino Livramento if Manchester City come calling next month.

United were committed to a £40m deal for Livramento two years ago and it would take something astronomical for Newcastle to even consider selling him. City want a new right-back with Kyle Walker set to leave the Etihad in the summer despite a loan move to AC Milan not working out.

Premier League clubs face an unprecedented June with the window swinging open early at the start of the month and remaining open for 10 days ahead of the FIFA World Club Cup. City know they have a chance to bolster their squad before jetting to the States for games in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Orlando against Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus in the group stages on the back of a long hard season.

City’s interest in full-back Livramento is the talk of the agent circuit and has subsequently been leaked to social media aggregators ahead of the summer window. But Newcastle have the former Chelsea and Southampton star tied down until 2028.

Speaking about the importance of Livramento, Howe told Chronicle Live: “Tino has done amazingly well this year and I am so pleased with him. To go from playing consistently at right-back to shifting across the pitch is incredibly difficult.

“The biggest compliment I can give him is he made it look easy and it is certainly not. I have to say he’s done so well at left-back.

“Defensively, he has been very secure. But also the things we have asked him to do with the ball, it’s not easy.

“And it takes a high level of tactical intelligence to play the way that he has. He has done it excellently.”

Howe would not even consider letting Livramento leave given his compatibility with his team-mates. It is something that Howe made clear in his Press conference on Friday, and said: “He has also built up some excellent relationships. Whether that be with Harvey Barnes or Anthony Gordon.

“That is difficult when you are working with different players on a different side of the pitch. So full compliments to him.

“He is experienced but he is still very young. He has a lot of growth left in his game and we will try to push him to new heights.”
