Evangelos Marinakis wants Nottingham Forest to be ‘a dominant force’ once again | The Independent

Ramon Sosa’s Nottingham Forest exit suffers blow it’s all down to Evangelos Marinakis….

Ramon Sosa looks more likely than anyone to leave Nottingham Forest in the summer, but one potential exit route seems to depend on Evangelos Marinakis.

Sosa impressed Forest fans against Luton Town in the FA Cup back in January, but has remained limited to cameos under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Clearly frustrated by this, Sosa posted a damning Instagram message while on international duty to suggest that Paraguay was his only motivation, distancing himself even more from the City Ground.

Forest will want to recoup their money for Sosa with interest seemingly high, but one destination may well be cut off due to Marinakis.

Ramon Sosa’s Brazil move depends on Evangelos Marinakis
Previous reports have made it clear that Sosa has interest from Brazil, and a return to South America looks like the best solution for the winger.

However, according to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Sosa’s potential move to Sao Paulo is dependent on the club’s relationship with the Forest owner.

Nicola said: “Specifically in relation to Ramon Sosa, the name of this athlete has never been discussed, and São Paulo does not see itself as capable of making any move without the help of the Greek magnate [Marinakis].

“He’s a player worth €12,13,14m and this is completely outside of São Paulo’s reality. The chance is minimal, if not zero.

Never at any time did São Paulo and Marinakis specifically discuss this player. This answer was given to me by someone from São Paulo who is on the front line in the negotiations with the Greek magnate.”

Nottingham Forest need Ramon Sosa situation sorted
When Forest signed Sosa from CA Talleres, it came just a day after the club announced the signing of Jota Silva, with their paths at the club intertwined ever since.

Whilst not starting many games himself, Silva has been impressive statistically for Forest, which has left him ahead of Sosa in Espirito Santo’s pecking order.

Statistic Jota Silva Ramon Sosa
Appearances 34 23
Goals 4 3
Assists 2 1
Jota Silva vs Ramon Sosa at Nottingham Forest
In terms of goals and assists in relation to appearances, perhaps Sosa has been hard done by in comparison to Silva, but with the season reaching its climax, there’s enough evidence now to suggest that Sosa simply isn’t favoured by the Forest manager.

Therefore it’s best for all involved if a swift solution can be found in regards to his future.
