West Ham speak with Walker-Peters after bombshell London Stadium exit news..

West Ham United already appear to be at work to strengthen the squad on the back of a hugely disappointing 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

West Ham beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford last weekend to lift some of the gloom that has been steadily building.

However, there is an acceptance from Graham Potter, David Gold and Co. that what West Ham have served up this season simply has not been good enough.

Potter was appointed four months ago and knows far better is expected in his first full campaign at the helm as his West Ham job is already under threat.

A transfer blitz is now expected at the London Stadium, with Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters among those being targeted.

West Ham confirm Vladimir Coufal exit
West Ham last week announced that Vladimir Coufal will be among those leaving East London when their contracts expire this summer, alongside Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell and Danny Ings.

After that bombshell update, it means a replacement will now have to be sought in that department.

According to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, speaking to Leeds United News (14 May), West Ham have already made contact with Walker-Peters.

Bailey stated that Leeds, West Ham, Tottenham, Everton and clubs abroad have all approached the Southampton ace already as he is set to become a free agent.

Walker-Peters would be a smart option for West Ham
The number of clubs seemingly in for Walker-Peters says a lot. The defender is capable of playing in numerous positions, including left-back and right-back.

That versatility, which has also seen him used further forward, is something Potter would no doubt love.

With Southampton’s relegation long but confirmed, there is next to no chance of the Englishman signing a new contract at St Mary’s.

Coufal is of course a figure who will be missed around Rush Green, but it makes sense to upgrade the squad in multiple positions, including defence.

If two-cap England international Walker-Peters can be recruited early in the summer, it will help lift the mood and set the Hammers on their way to what will hopefully be another busy summer of incoming activity.
