Fremantle McHappy will continue its cooperation
The Fremantle Football Club is pleased to announce that it has extended its partnership with McDonald’s, designating them as the official quick service restaurant and café of the Fremantle Dockers for the upcoming three years, including during the AFL and AFLW competitions.
McDonald’s and The Fremantle Dockers, who have been partners since 2016, will keep kicking goals together as they prolong their relationship through at least the end of 2026.
McDonald’s is happy to be resigning with the Fremantle Dockers AFL and AFLW leagues for an additional three years, according to Megan Robinson, marketing manager for McDonald’s South West State.
According to Robinson, “McDonald’s dedication to the football community, players, and fans is demonstrated by the partnership extension.”
“We are excited for the 2024 season and beyond and are proud of our long-term support of the Club.”
Simon Garlick, CEO of the Fremantle Dockers, expressed the team’s pride at extending their collaboration with McDonald’s for an additional three seasons.
“Since 2016, McDonald’s Australia has been a tremendous supporter of the Club and has been instrumental in bringing football to the community,” Garlick stated.
“We’re thrilled to support the larger community even more as we get closer to this partnership’s tenth anniversary in the coming years, reaffirming our commitment to local development and family engagement through sport.”
There are many things to look forward to, including the return of the fan favorite “Mac for a Match,” which is Macca’s offering of a free Big Mac to all Freo ticket holders and members on the Monday after a win, whether at home or away.
“Macca’s Kick 2 Kick,” an AFLW post-match event that lets families have a kick themselves, is here to stay and will always make sure fans end the game with a high.
The community comes together to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which assists seriously ill and injured children and their families throughout Australia. This year marked the 32nd anniversary of McHappy Day.
“We feel incredibly humbled to take part in McHappy Day in any small way, as players visit McDonald’s locations throughout the state to support and contribute to the RMHC fund,” Garlick said.
Players from Fremantle, including Tom Emmett and Sebit Kuek, as well as Hayley Miller, Joanne Cregg, and Orlagh Lally, visited local stores in Albany this year.

Andrew Sturgess’s appointment as Development Coach confirms Fremantle’s AFL coaching staff for the 2024 season.
Sturgess is a highly qualified coach from Victoria. She most recently worked with Vic Metro’s U18 and U16 talent squads and the Calder Cannons in the Coates Talent League, helping to shape future AFL players. He was Senior Coach at Coburg in the VFL before this.
“After a meticulous procedure, we are truly thrilled to have Andrew Sturgess join the Freo family,” stated Joe Brierty, Executive General Manager of Football.
“He is a people-oriented person who is motivated to help players realize their greatest potential. He will play a significant role in our coaching team and possesses a true growth mindset.
Sturgess will move to Perth prior to Christmas, bringing his family along for the New Year’s festivities. Adam Read left the position earlier this month when he was named Senior Coach of Peel Thunder, Fremantle’s WAFL-aligned team.
The men’s coaching staff is led by Justin Longmuir, with Matthew Boyd in defense, Joel Corey in midfield, and Jaymie Graham in forwards.
As Development Coaches, Brady Grey and Tendai Mzungu will continue to collaborate closely with Sturgess. The coaching staff for 2024 is completed by Bob Murphy, Head of Leadership, and Stoppages and Opposition Coach Harry Garland.
“We’ve now been able to formalize the structure of our coaching department for 2024 with Andrew’s appointment,” Brierty stated.
With Justin (Longmuir) in charge of our panel, we are certain that every coach can provide the necessary game plan and strategy in addition to inspiring our players to give their best effort.
This coaching staff has a great deal of experience, and I’m excited to watch them collaborate closely with our players to bring about the success that our club is so determined to attain.
“We are excited to have Andrew, his wife Bianca, and their sons, Leo and Archer, join the Freo family in the coming month.”
