Player ratings for Hull City vs Watford: Matty Jacob shines in a frustrating draw

Hull City’s play-off hopes were not greatly aided by their goalless draw with Watford at Vicarage Road, as both West Brom and Bristol City lost.

Wesley Hoedt’s foul inside the box gave City a great opportunity to take the lead early on, but Ozan Tufan, playing for his old team, missed the penalty kick, and Hornets captain Dan Bachmann saved it.

In the final minutes, both teams had opportunities, but City’s attempt to cut the deficit short failed to produce the goal that would have been so valuable.

Here’s what Tigers reporter Barry Cooper thought of the players on Saturday afternoon at Vicarage Road.

Ryan Allsop: was frequently spotted just inside his own half and had nothing to do with the saves in the first half. Excellent save from a free kick in the second half. 6 out of 10.

Matty Jacob: About a yard out, Jacob headed a goal-saving header to prevent what appeared to be the hosts’ opening goal. Better challenge to stop Dennis in the second. For his troubles in the second half, he was booked. might have prevailed in the end. 8 out of 10.

Jacob Greaves: After the penalty miss and again soon after, the key block occurred deep within his own box. Strictly reserved right before halftime after a 50/50. nearly scored in stoppage time, but his shot was

After just ten minutes, Fabio Carvalho won the penalty after Wesley Hoedt fouled him. Saw a little bit more of it in the second half, but not enough to make a difference. 6 out of 10.

Liam Delap (on for Tufan 62): late in the game, under pressure, dragged a shot wide but failed to win a penalty. appeared bright once more. 6 out of 10.

Billy Sharp, starting for Seri 81, had a brief moment before something inside the box caused it to be snatched away from him. 6 out of 10.
