Eagles welcome back West Coast Premiership star, who was pushed out. Harley Reid, the top choice for the Essendon Bombers match,
Dom Sheed, a West Coast premiership hero, has been benched in favour of Harley Reid, the first draft pick, as the Eagles get ready to introduce their third rookie of the year on Saturday night at Optus Stadium against Essendon.
Following the Eagles’ 37-point defeat to Gold Coast over the weekend, Sheed, recruit Tyler Brockman, and defender Harry Edwards were all benched.
After overcoming a sore hip, crafty forward Noah Long is expected to be available to play Essendon on Saturday night.
Despite being unable to travel to the Gold Coast for the previous round, Long has recovered well and is anticipated to raise his hand.
“Longy has a healthy hip. He will play if he makes it through training this week after missing last week due to a hip pointer, High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.
A number of other Eagles, led by co-captain and star player Oscar Allen, are following comparable return-to-play schedules.
“It’s good news that Oscar is starting to run again; he’ll be doing more and more in the coming weeks,” Inness stated.
“Jamo” (Callum Jamieson) is still a few weeks away from his hammy, but he’s adjusting to training and things are going well for him right now.
“Matt Flynn, also known as ‘Flynny,’ is returning to some aspects of training. He is completing training during our smaller sessions and integrating into specific drills during our larger sessions.”
Zane Trew, a midfielder for the WAFL Eagles, will miss Sunday’s match against East Perth because of a head knock, despite his team’s recent success.
“Sadly, during our WAFL training session over the weekend, ‘Trewy’ suffered a head knock and is currently undergoing the concussion protocol,”
