West Ham United transfer news amid talks for striker Santiago Gimenez

West Ham are now in negotiations with Feyenoord to sign their striker Santiago Gimenez this summer, according to Aaron Dominguez.

The Offsider journalist reported on Tuesday (15 August) that the Hammers want to bring the 22-year-old Mexico international to the London Stadium this summer.

Gimenez won the Talent of the Month award in the Eredivisie in April and apart from that, he’s won multiple Liga MX and CONCACAF Gold Cup awards as well.

Dominguez wrote on Twitter, “West Ham negotiates with Feyenoord for Santiago Gimenez.”

Good deal

Replacing Gianluca Scamacca was never going to be simple or a cheap affair for the Hammers and they were well aware of it.

That’s perhaps why they’re casting a wide scouting net and have arrived at the Netherlands in order to sign one of their league’s best under-23 players.

Gimenez has not just made a name for himself in the American continent but has also proven his worth in Europe.

In 21 league starts last season, he managed to find the back of the net on 15 occasions and played a key role in guiding his team to the league title.

The next step is undoubtedly a move to the Premier League and he’s at an age where he can adapt to life in England’s top league.

It remains to be seen how much he costs and negotiations between the clubs will give a good idea as to whether or not a deal is doable.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
