Before Tottenham’s match, Mudryk sends a message to Pochettino, and Raheem Sterling praises Cole Palmer.
When Chelsea travels to Tottenham on Monday, they will be facing one of the most difficult tests of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure to date. In what is sure to be an exciting London derby, Spurs can defeat the Blues and move up to the top of the Premier League table
For Chelsea, though, things appear to be very different. They are currently in 12th place in the standings after yet another dreadful performance in front of goal against Brentford last time out, although they did triumph over Blackburn Rovers handily that week.
Chelsea has been making their usual preparations for the match on Monday. Having said that, football.london examines a few of the standout moments from Chelsea’s most recent training film.
Palmer has Sterling in awe.
Since moving from Manchester City to Chelsea, Cole Palmer has drawn a lot of attention, and for good reason. The 21-year-old has been playing fantastically lately and has made a name for himself on Pochettino’s starting lineup.
But it’s not just the supporters who find Palmer inspiring. Raheem Sterling, one of his teammates, waxes poetic about his touch and ball control.
Inside the gym, Sterling, Palmer, and goalie Robert Sanchez were idly kicking the ball around. At that point, Sterling was heard to remark, “The way he controls it.” It’s crazy. Using his left hand.”
Later in the day, when the players were practicing on the grass at Cobham, Sterling was less than impressed with Palmer. Palmer and Sterling were vying for the ball in a “rondo”-style scenario, and at one point, Palmer visibly shoved Sterling in the back to get the upper hand.
Sterling became jokingly furious at this and exclaimed, “Don’t push me in the back, bro.” All of it was, however, very lighthearted, with most of the team laughing the whole time.
Chelsea trio shows up in elegance
When they’re in training, most players just walk onto the field, but not these three Chelsea players. Arriving at Cobham in style, Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, and Nicolas Jackson were captured on camera sitting in a small buggy to avoid having to walk.
