Jonah Williams’ best free-agent fit, according to PFF, is the Steelers.
Williams is someone Cincinnati can keep around if it so chooses.
CINCINNATI — Given how much money he could command and how much the Bengals can spend on him, it feels unlikely that Jonah Williams will return to Cincinnati this offseason.
Two AFC opponents are PFF’s Brad Spielberger’s top picks for landing spots: Pittsburgh and New England
“Both of New England’s starting tackle spots are potentially open heading into 2024, and even if Mike Onwenu returns, the Patriots still haven’t just left him at right tackle once and for all,” Spielberger stated. “The Patriots’ offseason might resemble the one in 2021, when they assembled a roster for rookie quarterback Mac Jones by spending a then-record sum in free agency. It might be wise to add a reliable pass-protecting tackle for a newly signed rookie quarterback.
“With the addition of Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator, the Steelers’ offseason offensive strategy will be extremely intriguing, and we never really got a clear explanation for why former starting right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor was benched from the starting lineup. Should the Steelers switch tackle Broderick Jones, a 2023 first-round pick, back to left tackle? Should he continue to play right tackle, will they search for a replacement for Dan Moore Jr., who has given up some of the highest pressure rates in the NFL for the past two seasons? In addition to possibly being too high with our initial number, our projection might be a little pricey for a free-agent signing by the Steelers.”
Bengals fans would find it difficult to accept Williams’ loss to the Steelers. A few years ago, the Bengals experienced the opposite when Mike Hilton left Pittsburgh to make a significant impact for Cincinnati.
