Everton transfer news as Chelsea tell Trevoh Chalobah he can leave now

Chelsea have told defender Trevoh Chalobah that he can depart Stamford Bridge now, with Everton wanting to sign the 24-year-old, according to Team Talk.

The football news website reported on Saturday (5 August) that Chalobah had been told that he would be allowed to leave after the Blues opted to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi following Wesley Fofana’s injury.

Everton are one of several interested parties both in the Premier League and across Europe who would like to secure Chalobah’s services, as Sean Dyche aims to strengthen his backline ahead of the new campaign.

It is suggested that a loan-to-buy deal could be welcomed at Stamford Bridge, something that will no doubt appeal to the Toffees as they look to navigate their way through the window.

An expensive deal

Whether or not Chelsea keep their valuation as high as previously reported now that they have told Chalobah that he can leave remains to be seen, but either way, a transfer will likely be expensive with the centre-back’s contract running until 2028.

Dyche wants to strengthen his backline and Chalobah does offer an exciting prospect with plenty of top-flight and European experience for his young age and would offer a different dimension to the Toffees’ backline and likely represents better value for money than Harry Maguire this summer.

However, it may be hard for Everton to convince the 24-year-old his future lies at Goodison, with so many of his other potential suitors operating in European competitions and many of his fellow Cobham graduates impressing on the continent, like Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham.

If the Toffees can afford Chalobah and convince him that Goodison Park is the best place for his development, they should pursue the deal, but that may be easier said than done.

Everton small step away from signing Chermiti as five-year contract development emerges

Youssef Chermiti is a “small step” away from completing his move to Everton on a five-year deal, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese outlet reported (3 August) that following two days of negotiations, both parties are very close to agreeing to salary conditions for the £10.7million move, which will also give Sporting Lisbon a 20% sell-on clause.

The 19-year-old forward is set to fly to England for a medical and has been left out of the club’s pre-season training to avoid injury.

Closer and closer

Everton have not had much to get excited about over the summer, but with Chermiti’s move edging closer and closer, they now have a reason to be optimistic.

While relatively unproven, the young star has shown a lot of promise and skill before his Goodison Park move came to fruition. Despite only scoring three goals in Portugal last season, his speed, skill, and tremendous technical ability have given him a reputation as one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

If Everton can nourish him into the player he has the potential to be, they could have a real star on their books and the £10.7million A Bola is claiming he will cost will look like nothing.

While new loan addition Arnaut Danjuma will be seen as a more reliable source of goals at Goodison Park next season, all eyes could be on Chermiti.

However, patience will be needed from Toffees fans. At just 19, it may take him time to adapt from the Portuguese top flight to the Premier League, but Sean Dyche would not have wanted the player if he didn’t believe he could perform at the club.

The deal looks more or less done. Bags are packed and medicals are being prepared for Chermiti to be the latest addition to Goodison Park.

BREAKING NEWS: Everton move closer and closer to sign £85,000-a-week international striker from…..

Sean Dyche’s Everton have been linked with West Ham United striker Michail Antonio.

According to The Guardian, Everton are interested in signing Michail Antonio from Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq are also interested in Antonio.

Antonio has been on the books of West Ham since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers paid Forest £7 million in transfer fees for Antonio (Sky Sports) at the time.

Antonio was playing as a winger when West Ham signed him, but under manager David Moyes at the Hammers, the Jamaica international has been deployed as a striker.

Everton should not sign Michail Antonio from West Ham United

In our opinion, Everton should not sign Michail Antonio from Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

The Jamaica international is 33 now.

And, he is not a ‘natural’ striker.

Antonio has made 228 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The £85,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker has scored 61 goals and given 30 assists in those matches.

Antonio did not have a particularly great campaign on a personal level in the Premier League last season.

The 33-year-old made 21 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the league for the Hammers last season.

The Jamaica international scored five goals and gave three assists in those games.

Antonio, though, did play well in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The striker scored six goals and helped West Ham win the competition.

However, if Everton want a new striker, then they should find someone who is better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin and who can be on top of his game for a long time.
